The Opportunity

Join our Construction Claims team as a Technical Services Officer, where you'll play a pivotal role in managing complex construction (material damage) claims. You'll provide expert technical support, training and coaching advice, drive strategic claims outcomes, and ensure exceptional service delivery to our customers.

Your New Role

  • Deliver superior complex claims management by determining policy coverage, investigating, evaluating, and negotiating complex construction material damage claims.

  • Interpret and action assessor, adjusting, legal and expert reports, instruct investigations, and implement findings aligned with strategic objectives.

  • Provide senior technical guidance and mentoring to the Construction claims team, supporting development and consistent decision-making.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Product, Underwriting, and Sales to support market-facing initiatives and business development.

  • Engage with external stakeholders such as Loss Adjusters, Lawyers and key matter experts to ensure effective claims resolution and stakeholder alignment.

  • Support the Service Manager with auditing, file reviews, and strategic claims initiatives, and represent QBE in dispute resolution forums.

About You

  • Extensive experience managing complex construction claims, with a strong understanding of material damage and section 1 coverage.

  • Deep knowledge of construction insurance products and legal processes related to claims.

  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills with a customer-first mindset.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to provide training and constructive feedback.

  • Commitment to compliance with legislation, industry codes, and internal policies.

  • Relevant tertiary and/or industry qualifications in construction, insurance, or law will be highly regarded
