Why your role matters:

The Learning Designer plays a pivotal role in creating and deepening engagement in learning and practice experiences for students and curriculum design that enhances skills for teaching staff in the use of contemporary learning tools and techniques. The primary objective is to facilitate pedagogical excellence through the application of learning design knowledge, skills, and competencies. As a Learning Designer, you will be responsible for designing and developing learning materials, incorporating learning design principles and technologies.

  • Employment Status: Negotiable (Full-Time or Part-Time)
  • Reporting to: Associate Dean (Learning and Teaching)
  • Location: Melbourne, Sydney or Geelong Campus

What you'll do:

Learning & Teaching Support Services

  • Assist academic teaching staff to: Develop and designs online learning materials, create learning experiences and environments and design learning activities, assignments, and assessments.
  • Create computer-based training (CBT) modules and storyboards.
  • Develop instructor's manuals and other teaching tools.
  • Analyse and refines existing delivery techniques.
  • Train teachers in the use of contemporary learning technologies, tools and techniques.
  • Propose the introduction of new and emerging tools, techniques and approaches to learning
  • Actively support CPD&S planning, academic capability uplift, and guidance on assessment quality and moderation practices.
  • Support the Associate Dean (Learning & Teaching) to drive L&T strategic initiatives including digital assessment tools, feedback literacy, and GenAI-related practices

Projects and Reporting

  • Participate in and/or coordinate projects relevant to the Learning and Teaching team
  • Analyse the application of the application Maintain records and produce reports on activities undertaken by the academic staff support team as required

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for improving delivery tools and techniques to enhance student outcomes.
  • Implement initiatives aimed at improving the student experience and streamlining student engagement

About You:

Essential:

  • A postgraduate qualification in higher education learning and teaching or a related discipline,

or experience in providing student learning support in higher education settings
- Experience in developing and facilitating academic skills workshops
- Experience in developing academic skills resources
- Capacity to develop effective working relationships with teaching staf

Desirable:

  • Scholarship in relation to learning and teaching
  • Experience delivering academic skills support in an online environment
