Canberra, ACT, Australia InfluenceMap Full time $70,000 - $85,000

Do you have a desire to make a positive impact on the climate and biodiversity crises by working with an innovative global think tank? If so, we want to hear from you

About InfluenceMap and The Opportunity
InfluenceMap is a globally recognized non-profit think tank driving change on climate and sustainability. We produce cutting-edge, objective research on how businesses and finance impact the climate crisis, working collaboratively across corporate, finance, public, civil society, and media sectors.

InfluenceMap is best known for its LobbyMap platform, which analyzes corporate advocacy and policy engagement activities related to climate change and biodiversity loss. Our work has been featured in the media globally, used by hundreds of investors, and informed numerous climate campaigns. Other workstreams include the FinanceMap platform, which assesses the climate credentials of the financial sector, and the Carbon Majors platform, which tracks emissions from the world's largest polluters.  With offices in London, New York, Tokyo, Seoul, Canberra, and Brussels, we're a team of 70+ dynamic professionals shaping the climate conversation worldwide.

We are seeking a Program Support Officer for our Australia Program for six months, starting January 2026. This role has been created to support our Australia Program Manager during an extended period of parental leave.

During the first three months, you will work closely with the Program Manager (who will be available two days per week) to learn InfluenceMap's methodologies, build relationships with key stakeholders, and take on specific responsibilities in stakeholder engagement and project management. For the remaining three months, you will work more independently (reporting to a director based outside Australia), maintaining these functions and ensuring continuity for the Australia Program.

This is an excellent opportunity for anyone eager to learn about InfluenceMap and gain hands-on experience with our platforms, research methods, and stakeholder engagement strategies. Subject to review, the role may lead to further opportunities at InfluenceMap for a successful candidate.

What Youll Do
InfluenceMap's mission is to enable science-aligned climate and biodiversity policy by reforming the way that corporate and finance sectors influence governments on these topics. Depending on the candidate, the responsibilities of the position will cover some or all of the following:

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate and support engagements with companies, investors, policymakers, and NGOs to advance climate and nature policy in Australia
  • Work alongside the Program Manager initially to learn relationship management approaches, then maintain these relationships independently
  • Represent InfluenceMap in meetings and discussions with key Australian stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities to expand and strengthen our stakeholder network across the region

Project and Research Management

  • Support a talented group of analysts in the timely delivery of briefings, projects, and other content to drive impact across Australia's climate policy engagement landscape
  • Help coordinate research priorities and ensure outputs meet InfluenceMap's rigorous quality standards

Communications Support

  • Assist with communications activities to amplify InfluenceMap's work in Australia
  • Support event coordination and logistics for regional convenings and stakeholder meetings
  • Help develop content for Australian audiences, including briefings and presentations
  • Contribute to building awareness of InfluenceMap's platforms and research in the region

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Communication skills: Ability to articulate complex issues and data-driven analysis convincingly to diverse audiences
  • Stakeholder engagement experience: Proven outreach and engagement skills, ideally with two years or more of experience in successful stakeholder engagement
  • English fluency: Strong written and spoken English
  • Australian policy knowledge: Understanding of Australian policymaking institutions and processes, particularly related to climate and sustainability
  • Technical proficiency: IT and software skills across a range of standard applications
  • Right to work in Australia

Highly Valued:

  • Experience in climate policy, corporate sustainability, or environmental advocacy in Australia
  • Understanding of how businesses and industry associations engage with climate and environmental policy
  • Project management or coordination experience
  • Communications or event management experience
