This is an exciting opportunity for an Educator/Kitchen Hand to join our Sentia Team

Sentia is a well-established, family-owned business in the heart of Melbourne CBD.  With 19 years serving the families of Melbourne, this EXCEEDING NQS service leads the way with innovative and sustainable practice.  Sentia is licensed for 124 children per day, with a culture that feels like family.

The Kitchen Hand at Sentia will support the chef in day-to-day kitchen duties, with a focus on dishes and cleaning.  They will take the lead with laundry, recycling, waste and ordering processes. When not engaged in kitchen duties, this person may be called upon to fulfill the role of assistant educator in the children's rooms.

Applicants with previous experience cooking in a commercial kitchen are highly desirable.

Ideally, the role is offered Monday to Thursday from 10am to 4pm (negotiable).

Position Objectives:

  • To help the Chef plan and prepare nutritious, well-presented and appropriate meals and snacks for children 0-6 years of age.
  • To meet and maintain requirements for a Class 1 Kitchen.
  • Cleaning, washing and tidying of dishes, kitchen and equipment.
  • To help with portioning and delivery of meals to the children's rooms.
  • To help prepare and pack and unpack parent takeaway meals.
  • To manage daily Centre waste, recycling and laundry processes.
  • To communicate effectively with Chef, team and management regarding ordering of cleaning supplies and consumables, when required.
  • To work as part of an enthusiastic and child-focused team.
