As we continue to lead in technological advancements, Vault is now entering a defining phase of growth with a strategic $22.5 million investment from the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation (NRFC). This investment will scale Vault's SECRET Cloud and introduce new services such as the AUKUS cloud capability, directly addressing Australia's strategic national security demands. Vault is now positioned to not only strengthen its existing relationships with federal and state government agencies, but also strengthen its relationships with private sector businesses requiring secure cloud storage.To support this growth, we are bolstering our capability by adding numerous key roles that are integral to our future success. We are expanding our Engineering team in Canberra and are looking for an experienced and motivated
Application Operations Engineer
to take charge of an array of Vault tooling (SOC, NOC, ITSM, CMDB, MDM, Identity, VDI), shaping the foundation of our product strategy, roadmap, and development. You will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting advanced network solutions in highly classified environments of national significance.

What you will do:

  • Drive the strategy, roadmap, and development of Vault's core operations tooling.
  • Lead a cross-functional team to deliver innovative, high-security solutions
  • Serving as the next escalation point for Level 1 support: resolve or escalate efficiently.
  • Implement configuration changes with precision and maintain service relationships.
  • Collaborate with product teams in a DevOps environment to deploy and enhance products.
  • Drive continuous improvement through application maintenance and process enhancements.

What you bring:

  • Australian citizenship with eligibility for an Australian Government Security Clearance.
  • Experience supporting Linux environments, including proficiency in Bash and/or Python.
  • Hands-on expertise in one or more areas: Cloud Infrastructure (OpenStack experience is advantageous), Networking (Cisco, Cumulus, Fortinet is advantageous), Containers & Orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), DevOps & Monitoring Tools (JIRA, GitLab, Elastic, Terraform, FreeIPA, Grafana, etc.), Automation (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Jenkins).
  • Ability to participate in a rotating on-call roster, supporting occasional after-hours maintenance or critical incident response. This is a standard 9–5 role, and on-call responsibilities are shared fairly across the team and scheduled in advance.
