The role:

Applications are invited from highly motivated persons with suitable experience and qualifications for the position of Environmental Health Officer for 6 months part time (0.6 FTE). With successful experience as an Environmental Health Officer already in your toolkit, you will also deliver a range of public health strategies and support services that protect, promote and enhance public and environmental health. This includes conducting risk assessments and investigations under the Food Act and Public Health and Wellbeing Act.

About you:

You will need to be suitably qualified and eligible to be a member of Environmental Health Professionals Australia (EHPA) or Environmental Health Australia (EHA) and have a working knowledge and understanding of the relevant Acts, Regulations, Standards and Codes of Practice relating to Environmental Health and to apply these when assessing public health risks and carrying out compliance activities. Skills required to be successful in this role also include: 

  • a strong commitment to customer service, quality principles and contributing to continuous improvement
  • you enjoy working in a dynamic performance based environment with supportive team members
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to build positive relationships, gain cooperation and resolve conflict
  • strong technical knowledge in Environmental Health.
