About the Role
As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities, you will play a vital role in maintaining the school's environment to a high standard. Reporting directly to the Principal, Business Manager, or a nominated delegate, you will perform a variety of routine and non-routine tasks to ensure the school remains a safe, clean, and welcoming space for students, staff, and visitors. While working independently on day-to-day activities, you will also collaborate with others to support the school's operations and events.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Maintain school grounds and gardens, including mowing, watering, weeding, planting, and general upkeep.
- Assist with the set-up and pack-down for school events, exams, and assemblies.
- Perform basic repairs and maintenance to furniture, fixtures, and equipment within non-trade scope.
- Support school security by locking/unlocking buildings and monitoring systems.
- Operate and maintain grounds care equipment safely, ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety standards.
About You
The ideal candidate for this role will demonstrate:
- A strong work ethic and dedication to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming school environment.
- Hands-on experience in groundskeeping or general maintenance, preferably in a school or similar setting.
- The ability to work independently and follow established procedures effectively.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with staff, students, and tradespeople.
- An understanding of workplace health and safety practices and procedures.
