About Drug and Alcohol Services Australia (DASA)

At DASA, we are passionate about creating healthy, safe, and supported communities free from the harmful effects of substance use. Our diverse programs include the Sobering Up Shelter, Aboriginal and Methamphetamine Outreach Teams, Prison In-Reach, the Drink Driver Education Program, Aranda House Therapeutic Community, and other vital initiatives such as Transitional After Care, Angie's Place and the Alternative to Custody Programs. DASA operates under the guiding values of Integrity, Diversity, Compassion, Community, Collaboration, and Innovation.

Aranda House is a registered Therapeutic Community (TC), fostering a supportive environment where individuals actively participate in their own recovery journey. Here, residents experience a community-based approach that promotes healing and personal growth through mutual support, group therapy, and structured programmes.

Learn more about us:

Therapeutic Community Model

A Therapeutic Community (TC) is a structured, participative environment designed to foster personal change and long-term recovery from substance use. At DASA's Aranda House, we embrace this model by encouraging residents to take responsibility for their recovery while actively contributing to the community's wellbeing.

Key elements of the TC model include:

  • Collaborative and peer-supported recovery
  • Structured group therapy and community meetings
  • Focus on developing life skills, responsibility, and resilience
  • A non-judgemental, inclusive environment that supports emotional and behavioural growth

Candidates unfamiliar with the TC model should understand that this approach requires them to support clients not just through individual counselling but by engaging in community-driven recovery activities and helping maintain the therapeutic environment.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Case Manager to join the Aranda House Therapeutic Community in Alice Springs, NT. You will play a vital role in supporting clients as they work towards recovery, helping them build life skills, develop relapse prevention plans, and successfully transition to independent living.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and facilitate programs focused on therapy, cultural enrichment, and release prevention.
  • Design individual treatment plans tailored to client goals
  • Provide case management support, including intake, induction, and ongoing reviews
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and external agencies
  • Maintain accurate case notes and contribute to reporting
  • Participate in the on-call rotating roster and provide occasional after-hours support

This is a rewarding opportunity to directly impact lives, helping individuals regain control and thrive in a supportive community environment.

About You

You are an empathetic, culturally aware professional with a proven track record in real-world case management and community services. You're confident working with complex clients and committed to delivering person-centred, non-judgemental support. We place a strong emphasis on actual hands-on experience in case management rather than purely academic qualifications.

Essential Criteria:

  • Practical experience in community services and case management, including direct client support, program facilitation, and collaborative work.
  • Strong understanding of AOD recovery and harm minimisation principles
  • Facilitation skills for group therapy and educational programmes
  • Ability to work effectively within a Therapeutic Community environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management and reporting capabilities
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Desirable:

  • Certificate IV in Community Services (Alcohol and Other Drugs) or similar qualification.
  • Current Australian Driver's Licence
  • Familiarity with the Mimaso client management system or similar
  • Knowledge of the Therapeutic Community model and DASA programmes

Note: We encourage applicants without formal qualifications but with strong, demonstrated experience in case management to apply.

Special Conditions

The successful candidate must be able to meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a current and valid Drivers License
  • Ability to be 'On-Call' on a rotating roster basis
  • Hold a current Working With Children Clearance (NT) Ochre Card
  • Willing to work in a smoke free environment and undergo random drug & alcohol testing
Key Benefits

Enjoy a competitive salary ranging from approximately $93,000 to $108,000 (based on experience), PLUS Superannuation and an array of benefits including:

  • Salary packaging options up to $15,900
  • Relocation assistance up to $3,000
  • 6 weeks of annual leave
  • 4 paid mental health days annually
  • Team lunches and annual team-building events
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Be part of a supportive, values-driven team making a real difference

All candidates will be required to undergo a criminal history check prior to being offered a contract. Please note that a recorded criminal history does not automatically exclude a candidate. People with lived experience of alcohol or other drug use are warmly invited to apply, with the expectation that they are in active recovery, with more than 2-years separation from treatment services.

DASA encourages applications from Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people, as well as people from Culturally & Linguistically Diverse backgrounds. LGBTQIA+ candidates can be assured that DASA is a safe work place - you are very welcome at DASA.
