Achmea Australia is seeking a General Manager, People & Culture (GM P&C) to lead our HR transformation and operational strategy, ensuring we remain agile and innovative while maintaining robust governance and compliance.

Why This Role Matters

As GM P&C, you'll play a pivotal role in balancing strategic leadership with hands-on operational delivery. You'll transform Achmea Australia's HR operations, ensuring they are underpinned by robust governance, cutting-edge technology, and operational excellence. Reporting directly to the CEO, and leading a team, you'll also provide strategic insights and reporting to the Remuneration Committee (RemCo), driving informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

What You Will Do

  • Leading a team to manage the entire employee lifecycle & provide support across People Operations, L&D and OD, payroll and remuneration, WHS, and IR and ER for a geographically dispersed workforce of ~150.
  • Leading the implementation and optimisation of HR systems and technologies to enhance efficiency, data integrity, and employee experience.
  • Driving HR transformation initiatives, including process improvement, compliance frameworks, and operational excellence.
  • Overseeing data governance, reporting, and analytics to deliver actionable insights and support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensuring compliance with employment legislation, regulatory reporting, and WHS requirements.
  • Play a key role in shaping our People & Culture strategy by actively contributing to the global Achmea HR community and championing our local strategy, working closely with the Executive Team to align people priorities with business goals to drive meaningful impact.

What You Will Bring

We are looking for an experienced and adaptable leader with:

  • 10+ years of HR leadership experience, ideally within an APRA-regulated environment.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience working within an APRA-regulated environment is essential.
  • A proven track record in driving HR transformation, implementing systems, and optimising teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR systems (e.g., ELMO, ADP) and experience developing roadmaps.
  • Strong understanding of employment law, modern awards, and compliance frameworks.
  • Advanced analytical capabilities, including experience in using HR data to inform decisions.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with experience in Board-level reporting.
  • A strategic mindset, with demonstrated success in leading change and driving innovation.
  • Outstanding people management skills, with the ability to coach, mentor, and inspire teams.
  • Experience navigating international and multi-jurisdictional stakeholder relationships.
  • Australian work authorisation is required at the time of application.
  • Any tertiary education qualification is required for this position.
