As the Senior Advisor – Risk and Internal Audit, you will play a key role in strengthening our governance, risk, and assurance functions. This is a high-impact position where you'll work closely with senior leaders, influence strategic decision-making, and ensure the organisation's risk and control environments are operating effectively.
- Establishing and leading effective, fit-for-purpose internal audit plans.
- Leading the development and delivery of internal audit and risk management programs.
- Planning, executing, and overseeing audits across the organisation, and presenting clear findings with actionable recommendations.
- Providing assurance to the Audit and Risk Committee that financial and operational controls are operating efficiently, effectively, economically, and ethically.
- Developing and implementing a robust risk governance framework.
- Maintaining, analysing, and regularly reviewing the enterprise risk register, and developing proactive and responsive solutions to mitigate emerging risks.
- Identifying key risk areas and opportunities for process improvement by assessing objectives, control frameworks, systems, and regulatory environments.
- Developing and implementing appropriate risk reporting for senior executives, the Audit and Risk Committee, and the Board to support informed decision-making.
- Facilitating divisional risk workshops and presenting risk insights to senior executives, the Audit and Risk Committee, and the Board.
About You
We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic Senior Advisor – Risk and Internal Audit with a passion for governance, risk, and assurance.
- 5+ years of experience in risk management and internal audit, with a strong grasp of governance frameworks and risk assessment methodologies.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage responsibilities with minimal supervision, and adapt in dynamic environments.
- Strong judgment, critical thinking, and analytical skills to assess and report on risk, controls, and governance issues.
- Demonstrated experience in leading projects, influencing stakeholders, and balancing competing priorities.
- Proficient in risk management systems, compliance tools, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Track record of delivering high-quality outcomes through structured, detail-oriented, and proactive audit practices.
While not essential, the following would be highly regarded:
- CA or CPA qualification, or working towards professional accreditation in accounting or audit.
- Experience in the mining industry, particularly in a risk, audit, or compliance context.
