Pilbara Bakehouse is seeking qualified Pastry Cooks who are passionate, enthusiastic, relabel and responsible with strong, diverse and has a great skill set and excellent experiences.

Major Tasks and Duties:

  • Prepare Pastry items - make Cakes and Pastry, preparing all our Desserts
  • Checking the cleanliness of equipment and operation of premises before & after production runs to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Checking the quality of raw materials and weighing ingredients to ensure there is no contamination or foreign objects.
  • Kneading, maturing, cutting, molding, mixing and shaping dough and pastry goods.
  • Preparing pastry fillings.
  • Monitoring oven temperatures and product appearance to determine baking times.
  • Coordinating the forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning and cooling of batches of bread, rolls and pastry products.
  • Glazing buns and pastries, and decorating cakes with cream and icing.
  • Operating machines which roll and mould dough and cut biscuits.
  • Emptying, cleaning and greasing baking trays, tins and other cooking equipment.
  • Create new and exciting desserts to renew menus and engage the interest of customers.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

  • Trade Qualification or equivalent is a minimum requirement.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Pastry Cook or Pastry Chef.
  • Strong skills in the production of pastries, desserts and cakes preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment.
  • Have sound knowledge on all Pastry and bakery equipment including mixing and ovens.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Great attention to detail and creativity.
  • Organising and leadership skills.
