IT Systems Engineer | Microsoft, Azure, Citrix, Security

  • Location: Canberra, ACT (Hybrid/ Flexible))
  • Security Clearance: Baseline Cleared (Preferred)
  • Contract Length: 8 months + 2 x 12 months extensions (at Department discretion)

We are seeking an experienced
'IT Systems Engineer'
with a strong background in the Microsoft technology stack, virtualisation platforms, and automation. You will work within a small team across BAU and project delivery, contributing to the design, implementation, and administration of critical ICT and IT security systems.

Key Responsibilities Of The Position

  • Administer and configure Microsoft 365 Defender (ATP) and respond to security alerts.
  • Deploy Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Azure Bicep.
  • Manage Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops and update Citrix/VMWare VDI images.
  • Automate IT and system tasks with PowerShell.
  • Administer and deploy Docker containers.
  • Implement PSPF ISM or NIST equivalent security controls.
  • Maintain and administer SQL Server databases.
  • Manage Dynamics 365 (on-premises & cloud/PowerApps).
  • Support SharePoint Online and On-premises environments.

What We Are Looking For

  • Strong experience supporting Windows Server and desktop environments.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Endpoint Manager (SCCM/Intune).
  • Application packaging experience for desktop/server software.
  • Ability to document build processes and operating procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with DHCP, Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy.
  • Skilled in Windows and application patch management.
  • Experience administering Office 365 & Azure tenancies.
  • Proficiency with VMWare infrastructure.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Administration of Microsoft 365 Defender.
  • Deploying IaC using Azure Bicep.
  • Citrix and VDI image management.
  • Automation using PowerShell.
  • Docker container administration.
  • Experience with Jira (Atlassian).
  • Applying PSPF ISM / NIST security controls.
  • SQL Server administration.
  • Dynamics 365 (On-prem & Cloud/PowerApps).
  • SharePoint Online and On-premises.
