The Company

Robert Half Executive Search has been exclusively retained to identify an ambitious Finance Leader for a growing and well-known Australian lending business with international operations. Based at the firm's Head Office in Sydney's CBD, the Head of FP&A will report to the CFO and help support the firm's significant growth agenda.

With PE-backing from one of the world's leading investors and a well-defined growth strategy, the Head of FP&A will help shape the future of the finance function in this innovative and collaborative business.

The successful individual's financial expertise, enthusiasm and knowledge of best practice will contribute to driving a high performing culture and deliver continuous improvement in the FP&A function.

The Role

As part of the senior leadership team, the Head of FP&A will play a crucial role in driving financial planning and analysis across the business. The position will be responsible for producing periodic business plans and business cases, ensuring key financial insights are delivered to stakeholders to support decision-making.

Reporting directly into the CFO and overseeing a team of 1 initially, this hands-on role will collaborate closely with all business leaders and other key stakeholders to develop meaningful data-driven reports, analytics and insights to directly enhance business performance. As the organisation continues to grow, the Head of FP&A will play a key role in enhancing and streamlining systems and driving process improvements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of annual business plans and forecasts, providing insightful financial analysis.
  • Monitor and report on department-level expenditure, developing robust reporting processes and liaising with stakeholders to drive financial accountability.
  • Provide senior leadership with data-driven insights and reports to track business performance, key metrics and to support strategic decision-making.
  • Maintain dashboards, manage reporting processes, and deliver key financial insights to support shareholder requests.
  • Support the executive leadership team with ad-hoc commercial projects and strategic initiatives as needed.

Your Profile

The ideal individual will be an aspirational, autonomous, and results-oriented financial services Finance Leader with an understanding of the Australian financial services landscape, with experience in secured lending a distinct advantage.

The successful candidate will have qualified as a CA or CPA (or equivalent) within Professional Services or Financial Services and will likely currently hold a 2IC or 'Head Of' position in a progressive FP&A function in a financial services firm.

The ideal candidate will be well versed in the use of technology tools for reporting and analysis possessing Advanced Excel skills as well as prior experience with tools such as Power BI. Expertise with other large-scale enterprise budgeting and forecasting systems will be highly valued.

Agile, solutions-focused and energised by challenges, the successful candidate will possess a natural curiosity of thought, comfortable tackling new concepts and ideas associated with on-going change.

A highly commercial, inquisitive and ambitious finance professional with extensive experience in building detailed models and forecasts within complex environments, will enjoy the challenging and varied work that this fast-paced business can offer.
