Clinical Psychologist, Contractor or Employee
Mindkit Psychology
Mindkit Psychology is a small, neurodivergent-led private practice based in Melbourne and Australia-wide via telehealth. We offer on-site sessions from Melbourne-based rooms and nationwide telehealth.
We are hiring our first new team members to help shape the growth of a practice built on authentic, lived experience and affirming care. This position can be offered as either a contractor agreement or a permanent employee role, depending on your preference. We anticipate appointing up to two clinicians if the right people apply.
About the role
We are seeking a Clinical Psychologist with a passion for working with neurodivergent adults. Training and experience in trauma-informed modalities are important, for example Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing and parts work such as Internal Family Systems. Skill in comprehensive Attention-Deficit, Hyperactivity Disorder and Autism assessments is also important.
This role suits a clinician who enjoys variety and wants a dynamic caseload that combines in-depth therapy with diagnostic assessment. You will have autonomy over your caseload and be part of a supportive, collaborative, proudly neurodivergent team.
The caseload and number of working days are flexible, minimum two days per week, and can be negotiated to create a sustainable and fulfilling role for the right candidate. We are open to therapy-only or assessment-only positions if that is your preference. Telehealth is available Australia-wide.
Key responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, neurodiversity-affirming psychotherapy to adult clients.
- Use trauma-informed modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing and parts work, for example Internal Family Systems.
- Conduct comprehensive, strengths-based diagnostic assessments for Autism and Attention-Deficit, Hyperactivity Disorder.
- Manage your caseload with confidence and appropriate independence.
- Maintain clear, timely notes and documentation, supported by artificial intelligence tools.
- Engage in supervision and contribute to a collaborative team culture.
Who we are looking for
- Lived experience of neurodivergence: We strongly encourage applications from psychologists with lived experience.
- Registration and endorsement: You must be fully registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist is strongly preferred.
- Trauma-informed skills: Evidence-based trauma therapies are part of your toolkit. Specific expertise in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing and parts work is highly desirable, and willingness to train further will be considered.
- Neurodivergent assessment capability: You have experience conducting, interpreting, and writing up gold-standard Autism and Attention-Deficit, Hyperactivity Disorder assessments from a neurodiversity-affirming perspective.
- Values fit: You work from a strengths-based, empowering, non-pathologising lens.
- Co-occurring presentations: Experience with eating disorders and complex trauma is a strong asset.
Why work with us
We handle the administrative load so you can focus on clinical care.
- Authentic culture: Be your true self in a workplace that understands and accommodates needs.
- Comprehensive support and streamlined workflow: Full administrative management of bookings, billing, and enquiries, plus access to our clinical assistant who formats diagnostic reports and manages clinical correspondence. From your dot points, they prepare General Practitioner letters and distribute your approved session summaries. This saves hours each week.
- Varied, engaging caseload: Blend deep therapy with the intellectual engagement of assessment to protect against burnout and maintain growth.
- Flexible structure and competitive compensation: Two remuneration pathways are available.
Contractors
- You receive 60 percent of all client fees billed under your name.
- Our 40 percent covers administrative support, referrals, billing, Halaxy fees, and your subscription to premium tools such as Heidi artificial intelligence.
- A flat room-use fee applies only on days you use an on-site therapy room, with the amount confirmed before commencement.
Employees
- Competitive salary package based on experience and endorsement.
- Twelve percent superannuation, paid annual leave, paid personal or carer's leave, and a dedicated professional development allowance.
Exceptional resources
- Modern technology: Paid Heidi Health subscription to reduce time on notes.
- Specialised materials: Access our in-house library of neurodiversity-affirming references, therapy tools, and assessment resources.
Professional development
- Funded training: We contribute to, or fully fund, training aligned to practice values and your goals, for example advanced Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, Internal Family Systems, or assessment training.
- In-house support: Peer consultation and the opportunity to sit in on supervision with the principal psychologist.
We are looking to appoint up to two clinicians, with final numbers based on fit and demand. You are welcome to state your preference for therapy-only, assessment-only, or a combined role, and note your preferred days, minimum two per week.

In your cover letter, please tell us about your passion for neurodiversity-affirming practice and highlight your experience with trauma modalities (EMDR, parts work) and diagnostic assessments.
