Library Professional

We are seeking an experienced library professional to join the Schools Catalogue Information Service (SCIS) team at Education Services Australia (ESA) on a short-term contract (2–3 months) to cover staff leave.
This role will support SCIS's work on metadata projects and contribute to the delivery of high-quality cataloguing services that help school library staff access and manage resources efficiently.

The Schools Catalogue Information Service (SCIS) creates high-quality, consistent metadata records for school library catalogues. SCIS systems provide quick and easy methods for downloading catalogue records into school library management systems. Metadata records for print, audio-visual and digital resources ensure that students can efficiently find the sources required to meet their information needs.

The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of library systems, cataloguing standards, and guidelines relating to resource description, classification, and authority control. Experience with school libraries and library management systems will be highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to projects in the areas of subject headings, linked data, and cataloguing standards.
- Support the cataloguing team in producing consistent, high-quality metadata.
- Provide advice on library technology and information management developments.
About you
- Tertiary qualifications in library and information management (or equivalent).
- Practical knowledge of cataloguing standards and metadata creation.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate within a team environment.
- Experience working in a school library context (desirable).
