At Scientific Instrument & Optical Sales (SIOS), we specialize in supplying quality microscopes and optical instruments to schools, universities, laboratories, veterinary clinics, gemologists, and industry professionals across Australia.
We proudly import and represent our own brand — Prism Optical — offering high-performance microscopes, cameras, and accessories that combine precision with affordability.
As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Sales & Business Development Representative with a genuine understanding of microscopy and optical systems to join our small, dynamic team.
The Role
This is a hands-on sales and relationship-building role where your existing product knowledge will make an immediate impact.
You'll connect with educators, lab managers, technicians, and resellers — identifying their needs and recommending the right optical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive new business development across education, research, veterinary, and industrial sectors
- Conduct product demonstrations and training (onsite, online, or at trade events)
- Build and maintain relationships with schools, universities, and laboratories
- Manage incoming enquiries, quotes, and follow-ups from initial contact through to order
- Support marketing and reseller activities with technical input and feedback
- Represent SIOS at trade shows, exhibitions, and educational events
Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of microscopes and optical systems is essential
- (e.g. biological, stereo, or digital microscopes; objectives; cameras; illumination; etc.)
- Prior experience in scientific, laboratory, or educational equipment sales preferred
- Confident presenting and explaining technical information
- Self-motivated and professional, with excellent communication skills
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel occasionally (local/interstate)

Pay: $60,000.00 – $150,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 10 – 38 per week
