About the Opportunity

Are you a passionate and experienced Social Worker looking to make a meaningful impact in inpatient mental health care? The Mental Health Service at South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) is seeking a dedicated Senior Social Worker to join our dynamic Inpatient Social Work Team.

In this role, you will provide high-quality psychosocial assessments and interventions to consumers receiving mental health treatment in hospital. You'll play a vital part in supporting patients through their recovery journey, including discharge planning and connecting them with community supports. You'll also work closely with families and carers to ensure holistic care.

As a senior member of the team, you'll collaborate with fellow social workers and the broader multidisciplinary team, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and provide clinical supervision to junior staff.

This position is part of a larger, well-established social work team operating across Liverpool, Campbelltown, and Bankstown Hospitals. We are open to job share arrangements for candidates seeking part-time work, provided service delivery needs are met.

You'll be supported by a collegial and consumer-focused team committed to delivering excellence in social work practice. The role also offers access to a wide range of professional development and learning opportunities.

What You'll be Doing

This position is responsible for providing specialist Social Work service to consumers and their carers to ensure the provision of optimal health outcomes consistent with SWSLHD policies and procedures, standards, relevant legislation, and the NSW Health Code of Conduct. The position will also participate in professional development, clinical supervision, teaching, quality activities and other relevant departmental and administrative duties

Where You'll Be Working

SWSLHD Inpatient Mental Health Services provide comprehensive care across several facilities, including the newly redeveloped Campbelltown Hospital and Liverpool Hospital. These services offer a safe and therapeutic environment for individuals with acute and non-acute mental health needs.

The multidisciplinary teams, consisting of professionals with diverse mental health expertise, deliver exceptional care through specialised units such as the Mental Health Intensive Care Unit, Adult Acute Unit, and Older People's Mental Health Unit. The service is committed to patient safety and high-quality care, maintaining external accreditation with the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards.

With active teaching and research links to various universities, SWSLHD Inpatient Mental Health Services provide excellent opportunities for professional development and career advancement.

Working here means being part of a dedicated team focused on improving mental health outcomes and making a positive impact on the community.
