Role and responsibilities:
As a chef, your roles and responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
· Take charge of daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and production, ensuring top-notch quality and efficiency at all times.
· Handle ingredients, such as seafood and meats, with care and precision, using techniques like chopping, washing, and cutting to maintain the quality and integrity of every dish.
· Execute cooking methods with skill and creativity, constantly improving recipes and techniques to deliver exceptional flavors and stunning presentations.
· Monitor the quality of dishes throughout the preparation process, ensuring every plate meets our high standards before being served to our guests.
· Work closely with the culinary team to design and refresh menus regularly, integrating seasonal ingredients and fresh ideas to excite and satisfy our guests.
· Organize kitchen staff schedules effectively to maximize productivity and ensure smooth operations, especially during busy periods.
· Keep track of food stock levels, communicate with suppliers, and implement strategies to reduce waste and manage costs efficiently.
· Excel at handling multiple tasks during peak hours, contributing creative ideas for daily specials to engage customers and stay ahead of culinary trends.
· Strictly follow sanitation and safety guidelines, ensuring proper handling and storage of cleaning agents, detergents, and other materials.
· Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, prioritizing food safety practices to protect both guests and team members.
· Offer mentorship and training to apprentices, helping them grow their skills and contribute effectively to the team.
Skills and experience requirements:
· Hold Diploma of Hospitality Management or equivalent
· Minimum 1 year experience as a Chef
· Excellent communication and leadership skills
· Demonstrated experience as a chef in a high-volume restaurant
· Maintain high kitchen standards
· Outstanding knife skills
· Ability to step up, drive, train and motivate the kitchen team and develop a culture of success
· Practical & theoretical knowledge of WH&S and Food Safety
· Full availability and willing to work a rotating roster that includes opening or closings shifts, weekends and public holidays across 5 days
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $74,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
