Banking & Finance Lawyer (2-4 Years PQE) – Leading National Law Firm

The Firm

Our client is a premium Australian commercial law firm renowned for advising clients on their most important transactions, commercial issues and disputes. From offices in Melbourne and Sydney, the firm provides advice to a diverse range of entrepreneurial Australian listed companies, private businesses, high-net-worth individuals and international corporations.

The banking & finance practice is led by a team of pre-eminent partners, working alongside a team of highly motivated and talented lawyers, who have gained a reputation for understanding each client's needs and achieving outstanding results. The Role

Our client is seeking a talented dynamic banking and finance lawyer at 2 – 4 PQE with private practice experience to join the team. You will love working in a tight-knit and collaborative team, directly with partners and senior lawyers and having direct client contact.

The Successful Candidate

  • You have an exceptional legal mind, as well as commercial and strategic nous. You want the chance to advise clients on complex strategic decisions
  • You enjoy feeling challenged, and to be given opportunities to take on additional responsibility with autonomy
  • You want a rounded legal experience that gives you the opportunity to also work on debt restructuring, equity raisings and fund/JV related matters in addition to pure transactional debt financings
  • You want to feel like you are an important member of, and making a meaningful and valued contribution to, a team
  • You value working within a cohesive and supportive team environment
  • You are ambitious, enjoy success and are ready to perform at a high standard

Experience & Background

  • 2- 4 years' legal experience from a leading law firm, working on a broad range of complex banking and finance transactions
  • Commitment to excellence
  • Ability to identify key issues in a legal matter
  • Demonstrated understanding of the commercial context of matters
  • Ability to work independently on a matter (with supervision)
  • Sound judgement and a proactive, innovative and outcome-focussed approach to work
  • Strong drafting and effective negotiation skills
  • Excellent academic transcripts
  • Ability to interact with clients confidently and build effective working relationship
  • Ability to work as a productive member of a team
