PROJECT MANAGER - BRAND & COMMS (3-6 month contract)

About the role:

We're looking for a Project Manager to join our growing team and help deliver the complex projects grounded in systems-thinking. You'll be working at the intersection of brand strategy, communications, and reputation ensuring our promise is delivered through flawless execution.

The role focuses on:

Leading brand strategy and systems alignment projects where complexity is highSupporting communications and reputation work where neededManaging the end-to-end delivery of our bespoke engagement and delivery methodologies

What you'll be doing:

Project leadership

  • Manage complex projects from diagnosis through implementation
  • Coordinate multi-workstream projects involving brand strategy, stakeholder research, and organisational alignment
  • Track deliverables, budgets, and timelines across our diagnostic, strategy, and engineering phases
  • Proactively identify and resolve project risks before they impact client outcomes
  • Ensure projects deliver on our promise to clients and our community

Client & stakeholder coordination

  • Support the strategic team in organisation of workshops and co-design sessions
  • Coordinate between internal teams (strategy, research, design) and external stakeholders
  • Manage complex stakeholder ecosystems where brand, operations, and communications teams need alignment
  • Support client relationship management through clear communication and proactive problem-solving

Resource management

  • Coordinate with external suppliers for audience research, production etc
  • Manage contractor relationships and ensure quality delivery standards
  • Support budget management and resource allocation across multiple concurrent projects

Systems & processed

  • Maintain structured project templates, frameworks, and quality standards
  • Support the development of our evolving proprietary tools and frameworks

Communications & reporting

  • Prepare executive-level project updates and progress reports
  • Create presentation materials for client meetings and internal reviews
  • Support business development through case study development
  • Maintain project documentation and knowledge management systems

What you'll need:

Essential

  • 3-5 years project management experience - ideally in brand strategy, organisational change, or consulting environments
  • Complex stakeholder management - you've successfully coordinated projects involving senior executives, multiple departments, and external partners
  • Systems thinking mindset - you understand how brand, marketing comms, operations, and culture need to align
(even if you haven't called it that before)
  • Exceptional communication skills - you can translate between strategic vision and practical implementation for diverse audiences
  • Process optimisation focus - you naturally see how to make complex workflows smoother and more effective
  • Independent work style - you thrive in a hybrid environment and can manage priorities across multiple projects autonomously

Highly valued

  • Experience with brand strategy or transformation projects
  • Background in agency, consulting or professional services environments
  • Familiarity with research methodologies, stakeholder mapping, or change management frameworks
  • Understanding of how internal culture and external reputation intersect
  • Experience supporting business development or thought leadership activities

Personal qualities we're looking for:

  • Calm under complexity - you bring order to challenging, multi-faceted projects
  • Collaborative problem-solver - you help teams find solutions, not just identify issues
  • Quality-focused - you care about craft and take pride in delivering excellent work
  • Curious systems thinker - you naturally see connections others miss
  • Adaptable - you're comfortable with the pace and variety of a growing consultancy

What we offer:

Flexibility that works

  • Hybrid setup: Mainly work from home with 1 day/week in co-working space
  • Client engagement: Some travel for workshops and client meetings (Melbourne-based, occasional interstate)
  • 4-day week option: Open to discussing reduced hours for the right candidate

Growth & development:

  • Front-row seat to methodology development in an emerging field
  • Direct client exposure working with senior executives and transformation leaders
  • Intellectual property development - contribute to frameworks and tools that become industry standard

The work environment:

  • Small team, big impact - your work directly shapes client outcomes and company growth
  • Systems thinking culture - we practice what we preach about alignment and coherence
  • Quality over quantity - we'd rather do fewer projects excellently than many projects adequately
  • Authentic purpose - we're solving real problems that matter to organisations and society.

Why Stake?

We're building something different. While other consultancies optimise for efficiency or creativity in isolation, we focus on the alignment that makes both actually work. You'll be part of developing and scaling a methodology that addresses one of the biggest challenges organisations face: the gap between what they say and what people believe.

This isn't about managing traditional projects. It's about orchestrating belief systems. And if you're someone who sees the connections between brand promise and operational reality, between stakeholder expectations and internal culture, between strategy and execution - this could be the role where you make your biggest impact.

Interested?

Send us your CV and a note about a complex project you've managed that required aligning multiple stakeholders around a shared outcome. We want to understand how you think about coordination, not just what you've coordinated.

Reports to:
Head of Brand and Change.

We're committed to building a diverse team and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences.
