The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available for an Evaluation Officer - Viral Hepatitis Implementation Projects to join the Infectious Diseases Implementation Science team at Burnet
In this role you will provide monitoring and evaluation support to two major initiatives: the National Hepatitis B Health Promotion Campaign and the Eliminate Hepatitis C II partnership (EC Australia II). You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team and work closely with the Health Promotion Program Manager and EC Australia II Working Group Leads to coordinate, design, implement, and translate evaluation and monitoring activities. This will include using mixed methodologies and co-design approaches to assess effectiveness and impact, contributing to research outputs, and supporting knowledge translation resources and publications.
You will also:
- Develop and implement formal evaluation plans of national health promotion campaigns and EC Australia II funded projects.
- Monitor campaign progress through analytics, program meetings, and stakeholder feedback.
- Design, collect and analyse qualitative and quantitative data.
- Prepare ethics applications, manage participant recruitment, and contribute to reports, publications, and presentations.
- Liaise with stakeholders, including community organisations, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, and drug user organisations, to support evaluation activities.
- Represent Burnet at project meetings, conferences and seminars.

Let's talk about you
The following criteria are essential requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in science, medicine or related discipline.
- Completed a relevant doctoral qualification (e.g. PhD, MPH) or equivalent experience in program evaluation, research or technical expertise.
- Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating health promotion programs and/or education campaigns with advertising.
- Strong experience in writing publications, conference papers, technical reports or professional contributions.
- Demonstrated ability to design, collect and analyse qualitative and quantitative research data.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to negotiate successful outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including analytical report writing and presenting to diverse audiences.
The following are preferable but not essential:
- Knowledge of viral hepatitis and/or working with culturally diverse communities.
- Experience with co-design and participatory methods.
