We're McDonald Surveys, part of the Railtrain Holdings Group, delivering high-quality services across surveying, advisory, digital engineering, and 3D modelling. We embrace innovation and advanced technology to support major Rail, Road, and Built Environment projects across Western Australia.
As we grow our team, we're excited to expand in Queensland and are seeking an experienced Survey Team Lead to join us. This role will focus on leading surveying operations and supporting projects across the east coast of Australia

Job Responsibilities
As a Survey Lead, you will play a pivotal role in managing and delivering high-quality surveying services for rail and infrastructure projects across Queensland. You will lead field surveying operations, ensuring projects are executed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. Your leadership will extend to supervising and mentoring a team of surveyors while coordinating resources within the Brisbane region.
Key duties include:
- Leading field surveys and managing local project delivery with strong compliance focus
- Supervising and supporting survey staff, including junior team members
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Driving business growth through identifying new opportunities and supporting proposals
Qualifications & Experience
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- A Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Surveying, Geospatial Science, or a related field
- At least 5 years' experience in surveying, with proven leadership managing multiple crews and projects
- Strong technical knowledge in land, engineering, and construction surveying
- Experience in rail, mining, or infrastructure projects is highly desirable
- Proficiency with survey software such as Trimble Business Centre, Civil 3D, or 12d preferred
- A current C Class Driver's Licence
Your ability to communicate effectively, lead teams, and manage client relationships will be essential to your success.
