About the role
This is an exciting full-time opportunity for an Environmental Coordinator to join the team at ENVIROCIVIL CONSULTANTS PTY LTD in Townsville, Queensland. In this pivotal role, you will be working in a multi-disciplinary team on a large Department of Transport and Main Roads Project. You will be responsible for coordinating and implementing environmental management strategies on a large infrastructure Project, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and driving sustainable best practices.
As part of the Envirocivil Consultants Team, you will be a member of a small, boutique consultancy that specialises in providing environmental support to large infrastructure Projects. You will become one of the 'family' and will have direct support from highly experienced members of the team.
Salary will be commensurate to the level of experience of the candidate and as a guide - approximately $90k per annum + Super.
What you'll be doing
- Develop, implement and monitor environmental management plans to ensure project compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and regulations
- Conduct environmental audits and inspections to identify potential issues and recommend corrective actions
- Provide expert advice and support to project teams on environmental matters, including the application of environmental controls and mitigation measures
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and other stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals and permits
- Implement effective waste management and recycling strategies to minimise environmental impact
- Lead environmental inductions and training for project staff to promote environmental awareness and best practices
- Maintain detailed records and reporting on environmental performance and compliance
What we're looking for
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline
- Previous experience - 1 to 3 years in an environmental coordination role in the construction industry is desirable but not mandatory. We are looking for a passionate and driven individual who is interested in learning about environmental management in the construction industry.
- A basic knowledge of environmental legislation, regulations and best practices applicable to construction projects
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to think strategically
- Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with project teams, clients and regulators
- Basic skills in environmental monitoring, reporting and data analysis are desirable
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting sustainable work practices
