Maxima's Indigenous Skills and Employment Team is looking for a Field Officer to manage the recruitment and mentoring of its Apprentices/Trainees and support our Host Employers to fulfil their employment pathway opportunities.

The Role:

Working closely with First Nations Trainees/Apprentices, schools and Community, Maxima is seeking an energetic and compassionate person who has in depth of knowledge and understanding to support diverse cultural dynamics, and pathways to education and employment outcomes. Thisrole is an identified role for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates.

The role is based in Adelaide, SA and will require some travel across the state to support Trainees/Apprentices.

You will join an existing team of Field Officers nationally, supporting opportunities for young First Nations people through traineeships/apprenticeships with our corporate partners.

Some of the things you will do:

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships by providing ongoing support and mentoring to First Nations Trainees and Apprentices.
  • Undertake regular monitoring visits on both a pre-arranged basis as well as on an as needs basis.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with schools, Workforce Australia providers, training providers, Government agencies and Community to promote opportunities.
  • Understand and manage Training Contracts and vocational requirements within private enterprise businesses, Local Government, Community Services, and other sectors.
  • Identify growth, development and support with work performance, training, pay enquiries, and any other areas identified by the Host employer or the Apprentice
  • Promote Maxima to both potential Apprentices/Trainees and potential Host Employers.
  • Undertake recruitment, interview and selection procedures.
  • Support and mentor Trainees/Apprentices and take appropriate action to resolve work related issues.

What will you need to succeed?

You will be a highly motivated and engaging communicator, with exceptional relationship management skills. Previous experience in recruitment, mentoring or coaching, and familiarity with the local labour market will help you successfully represent Maxima in the community and support employment opportunities.

You will have:

  • A strong understanding of First Nations culture
  • Proven experience in relationship development with young people, employees, and employers.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet Key Performance Indicators and performance benchmarks.
  • Have the self-discipline to work autonomously and show a high level of initiative.
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written) and presentation skills.
  • A knowledge of Group Training and the vocational education and employment sector would be an advantage
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and online systems.
  • Current SA driver's license.
  • Current Police Clearance or willingness to obtain one.
  • Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one.
