Miles State School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Cleaner to join our friendly team of three. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a tree change and a rewarding role in a supportive school environment.

Preferred hours: 5:00am-8:00am and 2:00pm-4:00pm (Monday to Friday)

This position is being offered in a Temporary Part-Time capacity (0.67FTE), 51 hours per fortnight.

Who We Are:

Miles State School is a vibrant Prep to Year 6 school located in the rural township of Miles, situated in Queensland's Darling Downs South West region. Positioned at the junction of the Warrego and Leichhardt Highways, Miles is approximately 300 km north-west of Brisbane and serves as a key hub in the western Darling Downs.

Miles itself is a friendly and thriving country town with a population of around 1,500. The community offers a range of recreational and sporting opportunities including rugby league, touch football, netball, tennis, and Parkrun. Medical services are available locally, with access to specialist care in nearby Chinchilla, Dalby, and Toowoomba. Residents enjoy convenient local shopping, two supermarkets, a variety of beauty and specialist retail services, as well as restaurants and hotels.

Step Into Your Next Chapter:

You will ensure that the duties prescribed for the position are completed to an acceptable standard as determined by the supervisor in accordance with the approved school cleaning program. The Cleaner reports to the school Principal and the Business Manager.

Responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning windows, pictures, doorknobs, taps, sinks, drinking fountains, lavatory basins, glassware, glass doors and cupboards.
  • Cleaning and sanitising toilet facilities and sick bays.
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment.
  • Cobweb and mildew control, utilising extendable equipment as necessary.
  • Cleaning of concrete, bitumen, asphalt and paved surfaces.
