United Petroleum is a leading Australian-owned company in the fuel and convenience industry, committed to delivering high-quality service and innovation across its nationwide network. We are seeking a skilled Senior Financial Accountant to join our dynamic finance team.

The Senior Financial Accountant will play a key role in managing financial reporting, tax compliance, and accounting operations. You'll ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information, support statutory reporting, and lead various tax functions to maintain compliance and efficiency.

About the Role

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Manage all aspects of taxation including BAS, FBT, GST, income tax, and payroll tax
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Maintain general ledger integrity and oversee month-end closing processes
  • Provide support in process improvements and implementation of financial controls
  • Monitor and interpret changes in accounting standards and taxation laws
  • Mentor junior finance staff and support leadership with strategic financial advice

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA or CA qualified
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in financial accounting and taxation
  • Strong knowledge of Australian tax laws and accounting standards (IFRS)
  • Proven experience in statutory reporting and compliance
  • High attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (MS Dynamics  or similar)
