Dawson Public School is located in Western Sydney and has an enrolment of 338 students. This includes 266 K-6 students, 2 multi-categorical support classes (increasing to 3 classes in 2026) and 72 preschool students. Our school community is culturally diverse with 47% of students having non-English speaking background, 33% require some level of EAL/D (English an additional language or dialect) support and 20% of students identify as having an Aboriginal background.

Selection CriteriaIn addition to the general selection criteria,
- Approval to teach special education and/or experience working with students with autism.
- Proven ability to design, implement, and evaluate differentiated learning programs that cater to diverse student needs, supported by effective classroom and trauma-informed management strategies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with colleagues, families, and stakeholders to enhance student outcomes.
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
