The Mornington Shire Council is a Local Government Authority providing range of services to the twenty-three islands of the Wellesley Group located 125kms north-west of Burketown, 200kms west of Karumba and 444kms from Mount Isa, in the southern section of the Gulf of Carpentaria, residing within the State of Queensland. The island is 2.5 hours flight from Cairns.

The Role:

The Youth Hub coordinator will implement and manage programs to achieve project objectives, which include community engagement and ongoing sustainable activities associated with the Youth Hub. The role is hands-on, on the ground, supported by Youth Activities Officers.

General Responsibilities

The coordinator will administer, oversee, and coordinate youth Programs funded by the NIAA namely: Engage in Life and Learning Program, The on Country and the Youth Hub Programs, ensure all KPIs as set out in the work delivery plans are met.

This role will also oversee day to day operations of Council's Youth Activities Program including facility access, planning and coordination of all activities, services, and programs.

Safely deliver diversionary activities for young people including movie nights, on country camps, sports and games, holiday programs, and fishing excursions, in collaboration with existing service providers.

A successful applicant will need to possess a relevant degree in Social Work, Psychology, related human service discipline or considerable experience successfully leading Indigenous Youth Activities Programs or managing teams in a complex youth service delivery setting.

Qualifications and Experience

· Demonstrated ability to connect, inspire, and support young Indigenous people.

· Minimum 3 years' experience in leading and managing teams in a complex youth service delivery setting.

· Proven ability to create meaningful positive change in young people.

· Previous experience training and mentoring Indigenous youth to achieve work or education goals.

· Relevant degree in Social Work, Psychology, related human service discipline or considerable experience successfully leading Indigenous Youth Activities Programs.

· Demonstrated ability to deliver service outcomes on time, within budget and in compliance with funding requirements.

· Budget and financial management capabilities.

· Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.

· Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders.

· Working with Children's check.

· Current First Aid Certificate.

· National Police Clearance no older than three months.

· Current Drivers Licence.
