Purpose of the Role:
The gateway payments product manager role is responsible for owning and optimising the relationships, performance and integrations of third party gateways that support Global Payment key accounts and merchants. This role serves as the strategic and operational owner for external payment partners - driving cost efficiency, performance optimsiation and feature enablement across the payment ecosystem. Working closely with product, scheme relationship leads, technology, finance, legal to align to the product roadmap and deliver seamless customer experiences.
Responsibilities:
Vendor relationship owner
- Serve as the primary point of contact for third party payment gateways.
- Own the vendor performance reviews, SLAs, escalations and roadmap alignment.
- Conduct regular business reviews (QBRs) to track KPIs, feature rollout and compliance.
Contract and commercial management
- Build a process to monitor approval rates, decline rates, latency and payment routing performance.
- Partner with the scheme lead roles and finance to negotiate commercial terms, pricing models and incentives with payment partners.
- Ensure contract terms reflect operational and technical requirements (e.g. uptime SLAs, dispute handling).
Product ownership and integration strategy
- Define the roadmap and requirements for gateway integrations and payment partner feature adoption (e.g. tokenisation, fraud tools, alternative payment methods).
- Translate partner capabilities into customer-facing features or internal efficiencies.
- Where applicable, work with the sales team as subject matter expert to onboard customers to new features.
Feed external insights into product roadmap
- Translate partner roadmaps, API enhancements and industry developments (e.g. scheme mandates) into internal product requirements and opportunities).
- Proactively identify and advocate for product enhancements based on partner capabilities or industry shifts (e.g. launching click-to-pay).
- Flag any partner limitations (e.g. sunset activity) that may impact existing features or expansion plans.
- Work with product, scheme leads and finance teams to factor gateway pricing models and contract terms into pricing models and business cases.

Experience and Expertise
- 6+ years' experience managing vendor agreements with a strong understanding of the payments industry.
- Proven experience managing external vendor relationships.
- Ability to influence internal stakeholders and bridge external-internal communication gaps.
- Ability to evaluate trade-offs (cost, risk, complexity, speed to market) when analysing vendor propositions.
- Skilled in conducting QBRs, RFPs and onboarding/offboarding third party vendors.
- Skilled at creating clear documentation, artner briefs and internal write-ips to align cross functional teams.
- Passionate about delivering great customer experiences and bringing products to life that scale, representing the voice of the customer.
- Growth mindset to continually refine and improve experiences.
- You are a collaborative operator who can bring together diverse perspectives from across the business and prioritise product solutions to deliver the greatest value.
- Demonstrated values of Passion, Care, Accountability, Excellence and Ingenuity to collaborate with team and deliver outcomes in a global matrix organisation.
Preferred
- Demonstrated delivery of product within the APAC region and an understanding of payments product requirements across the region.
- Knowledge and/or experience working in an agile environment.
- Being adept in project management including experience using various project management techniques would be advantageous.
