Your role
Junior Accountant
This position will be supported to undertake their Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) qualification provided the necessary pre-requisites in your undergraduate degree to enrol have been obtained.
What you will do – Core Accountabilities include:
- Month End Close - Assist with month end closure process, including preparing reconciliation papers, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are investigated and resolved in a timely manner.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable - Support the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions by processing invoices, ensuring timely payments and collections, and maintaining accurate records of transactions.
- General Ledger Maintenance - Assist in maintaining and updating the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of transactions in accordance with accounting principles and company policies.
- Financial Reporting Support - Assist with the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow reports.
- Expense Analysis - Help monitor and track company expenses, ensuring proper classification and coding. Assist with preparing expense reports and identifying any discrepancies or trends.
- Tax Compliance - Assist with tax preparation and compliance tasks, including preparing GST returns and other statutory filings.
- Learning and Development - Develop your technical skills and knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Ad Hoc Financial Tasks - Assist with various financial projects, reporting tasks, and other duties as required by senior accounting staff.
Must Have:
- Completed or working towards a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, that includes the prerequisites required to undertake either the CA or CPA program.
- Strong academic background in accounting systems and principles, financial reporting, and management accounting.
- Basic knowledge of tax regulations and accounting standards
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with both financial and non-financial stakeholders
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
