System Engineer

Team Downer
, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.

We currently have an opportunity for a
Systems Engineer
to join a joint acquisition project supporting Defence capability delivery. This role is focused on providing engineering expertise across the full product lifecycle, ensuring compliance, collaboration, and technical excellence. The position is based onsite at Campbell Park, Canberra.

What You'll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:

• Develop, manage, and maintain the CJC10 Engineering Documentation suite
• Provide formal engineering advice across relevant contracts and product activities
• Support the CJC10 Engineering Team with technical tasks and professional development
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver engineering input across all streams
• Ensure compliance with IC3SPO QMS and contribute to workshops and contract deliverables

What You'll Bring

• Chartered Professional Engineer status or eligibility through a recognised body (e.g., Engineers Australia)
• Tertiary qualifications in Systems Engineering or equivalent experience
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement
• Experience in leadership, coaching, and strategic implementation
• Familiarity with Defence environments, including ODCS, CASG, and ASDEFCON suite

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum
Negative Vetting 1
or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
