About the role

The role of the Allied Health Assistant (Occupational Therapy) is to work within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare to ensure a high standard of service is provided to patients of the HammondCare Health services along with appropriate support and advice to their carers. This position will be located at Greenwich Hospital, Neringah Hospital in Wahroonga and Northern Beaches Community Palliative Care in Mona Vale.

We are seeking a range of Allied Health Assistants and are willing to consider part-time hours for this permanent full-time or part-time role. You will participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure a patient-centred, evidence-based, continuous quality improvement work environment that is consistent with the values and ethics of HammondCare.

HammondCare is a NSW Health-affiliated organisation, all NSW Health transferrable entitlements will be recognised.

Responsibilities
  • Management of equipment and equipment loan system including transport of equipment as required, equipment ordering, cleaning and general maintenance
  • Provide assistance in patient care and equipment management during therapy sessions and home visits
  • Assist in the preparation for and participate in conducting group sessions as required
  • Assist in the development of resources for therapy programmes
  • Set priorities in the daily work schedule in consultation with the therapist in the assigned area
  • Observe and report on the status of patients to the treating therapist and other staff as appropriate
  • Clearly document intervention in the patient's clinical records in accordance with documentation guidelines
  • Contribute to client care as part of a multidisciplinary team and maintain good communication with medical, nursing, allied health and other staff and voluntary workers
About you
  • Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance is desirable
  • Experience working in a health or aged care setting. Experience across inpatient and outpatient / community settings would be desirable.
  • A current driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Willingness to travel between HammondCare's sites and services.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
  • Organisational and time management skills
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment
  • An understanding of Work Health and Safety policies and procedures and manual handling principles
