Technical Product Developer

Job Description

Zimmermann is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Product Developer to join our Swimwear team on a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract commencing in March 2026. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical development and patternmaking experience who thrives in a dynamic, design-led environment and enjoys collaborating closely with creative, technical, and production teams.

As a Technical Product Developer – Swimwear, you will develop accurate patterns, technical specifications, BOMs, and production documentation that uphold Zimmermann's quality standards across Women's and Kids Swimwear. You will support fittings, liaise with offshore vendors, and ensure each style moves smoothly through sampling, PPS and production approval.

Job Requirements

• Experience in swimwear or lingerie patternmaking (preferred)
• Strong understanding of garment construction and high-end finishes
• Proficiency in Gerber, Illustrator, Excel, Outlook; knowledge of AP21/PLM a plus
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work collaboratively with designers, patternmakers, and offshore vendors

Job Responsibilities

Patternmaking & Technical Development

• Develop and update accurate swimwear patterns using the Gerber system for Women's and Kids categories.
• Create and maintain comprehensive tech packs, including size specs, BOMs, trims, yields, markers, and make details.
• Participate in fittings, record detailed fit notes, and implement updates to patterns and specifications.
• Liaise with offshore vendors regarding construction methods, techniques, finishes, and embellishments.
• Produce high-quality, accurate swimwear patterns on schedule, in line with Zimmermann standards, with minimal inconsistencies.

Sampling, QA & Production Support

• Partner with sample machinists to achieve high-quality makes and production feasibility.
• Prepare sample markers, conduct QC, compile measurement reports, and e-packs.
• Prepare PPS packs, review PPS samples, and update patterns/specs to achieve timely approval.
• Support Design, Production, and Art teams with marker concerns, placement prints, and artwork checks.
• Ensure all specification sheets are complete and precise, including trims, accessories, yields, and make details.
• Achieve approved offshore PPS samples through clear communication and accurate updates.

Process, Organisation & Collaboration

• Maintain an organised pattern room, technical manuals, and reference sample library.
• Work collaboratively to meet production timelines and range development deadlines.
• Ensure accurate documentation, version control, and reliable backup procedures.
• Maintain thorough and up-to-date BOMs across all styles.
• Identify production issues early and recommend preventative solutions.
