About the role:
The position of Supply Chain Analyst is accountable for all matters of demand, inventory optimisation and planning (purchasing) as relates to the approx. 26,000 items of inventory held and managed. Role accountabilities include driving Progress Rail' Vision Zero and environmental programs, including demonstrated leadership of all safety, health and environmental values; management of demand signals (external, service, maintenance, fleet growth/retirement and systems; inventory optimisation (stocking strategies (BAU and project related) and systems governance) and purchasing (end-to-end buying, expediting, item settings and data management).
This includes:
- Working with Planning, Engineering Information Systems and Customer Service, ensuring accuracy of:
– EXTERNAL demand signals, specifically order quantity, accuracy of demand forecasts, demand placed within lead-time, NEW vv UTEX, unit of measure and obsolete/superseded items
- SERVICE related signals, specifically demand with due dates in the past, locomotive repositioning driving duplicated demand and demand placed within lead-time
- MAINTENANCE related signals, specifically demand with due dates in the past, order duplications due inconsistency of MRP, demand placed within lead-time and order duplications due to timeliness of inventory journals
- FLEET GROWTH/RETIREMENT related signals, specifically approved NEW items for growth fleets such as GT46's & BEL's and zeroing out settings for fleets earmarked for retirement, such as 3551's and 90 class
- SYSTEM related signals, specifically unit of measure settings, lack of standardized screens showing essential fields, lack of standardized processes regarding supersessions and visibility of item coverage - Informing material masters, safety stock settings, specifically historical usage, minimum order quantities and lead-time
- Accurate Document Handler uploads within D365 to support changes to Inventory and / or PO settings
- Purchasing of all inventory based on all demand signals (sales orders, demand forecast, BOM's, inventory journals and safety stock settings)
- Ensuring orders are placed a minimum of 4 months in advance and running of vendor back-order reports
- Monthly data cleansing (old/expired PO's and regular review of safety stock settings)
- Management of centralized (and local) purchase orders including firming, amending, cancelling and expediating
- Transaction management of NCN's and warranty
Desired but not essential:
- 3 + years original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or rail, aviation, logistics, mining or supply chain industry experience
- 3 years operational or planning experience in a manufacturing, maintenance or supply chain environment
- Significant planning, buying or purchasing experience
- Significant ERP systems (SAP, AX, D365 …) experience
- Demonstrable knowledge of quality processes and systems
