
Fibre Optic Technician

An opportunity exists for an experienced Fibre Optic Technician to join a growing team delivering works across NBN, Telstra and other carrier networks. This role will involve a mix of installation external and internal, splicing, testing, and maintenance on critical telecommunications projects.
Key Responsibilities- Fibre optic cable hauling, splicing, termination, and testing.
- Using OTDR, power meter, and light source equipment to produce test results.
- Completing cutovers, rectification, and maintenance works.
- Reading and interpreting network plans, job packs, and as-builts.
- Working safely in pits, manholes, and exchange environments.
- Maintaining compliance with NBN, Telstra, and industry standards.
- Demonstrated experience on NBN and/or Telstra fibre networks preferred but not essential.
- Current Australian Cabling Licence (Open Registration).
- White Card and current Driver's Licence.
- Proficiency in fibre splicing, OTDR testing, and fault finding.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or in a team.
- Telstra/NBN accreditations (or ability to obtain).
- Experience, qualifications or accreditation on other carrier networks.
- Confined space, traffic management, or rail industry tickets.
- Experience performing critical network cutovers.
