About the Role

An opportunity exists for an experienced Fibre Optic Technician to join a growing team delivering works across NBN, Telstra and other carrier networks. This role will involve a mix of installation external and internal, splicing, testing, and maintenance on critical telecommunications projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fibre optic cable hauling, splicing, termination, and testing.
  • Using OTDR, power meter, and light source equipment to produce test results.
  • Completing cutovers, rectification, and maintenance works.
  • Reading and interpreting network plans, job packs, and as-builts.
  • Working safely in pits, manholes, and exchange environments.
  • Maintaining compliance with NBN, Telstra, and industry standards.
Skills & Experience
  • Demonstrated experience on NBN and/or Telstra fibre networks preferred but not essential.
  • Current Australian Cabling Licence (Open Registration).
  • White Card and current Driver's Licence.
  • Proficiency in fibre splicing, OTDR testing, and fault finding.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or in a team.
Desirable
  • Telstra/NBN accreditations (or ability to obtain).
  • Experience, qualifications or accreditation on other carrier networks.
  • Confined space, traffic management, or rail industry tickets.
  • Experience performing critical network cutovers.
