About the Role:

We are currently seeking an experienced Disability Support Workers for our SIL accommodation in Sunshine, Melbourne.

Your role will involve providing in-home supports to our participant and assistance with personal care, meals preparation, medication management, community access, transportation, and companionship.

This role is perfect for someone who is a:

  • Fast learner, works under limited supervision, passionate about the work they do and has ability to demonstrate person-centred and positive approach towards supporting and empowering our participants.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, comfort meeting and engaging new people
  • Are looking for a consistent and stable routine where you work at least 20 hours each week
  • Are looking to commit to at least 12 months in the role so as to ensure a stable and consistent service for your clients
  • Confident using basic office technology (Microsoft Teams, email etc)
  • Need to use personal mobile phone for shift information, shift logins and information management.

Duties in this role include:

  • Providing in-home assistance and supports to participants.
  • Assisting with Diabetes Care (Prior Experience and Certificate Essential).
  • Assisting with Manual Handling (Prior Experience and Certificate Essential).
  • Assisting with skin checks and integrity testing requirements (Prior Experience Essential).
  • Assisting with Complex bowel care needs (Prior Experience Essential).
  • Assisting with Diabetes Management requirements and administration(Prior Experience Essential).
  • Assisting with Catheter care and management(Prior Experience Essential).
  • Assisting with personal care tasks such as showering, toileting, dressing, grooming.
  • Assisting with medication administration.
  • Assisting with meal preparation, feeding as required.
  • Assisting clients with challenging behaviours.
  • Supporting participants in developing essential life skills and achieving their goals.
  • Assisting with transports for appointments and shopping.
  • Promoting community engagement and social inclusion.
  • Documenting participant progress notes and records.
  • Adhering to the participants care plan and NDIS frameworks.
  • Understanding participant NDIS Plans, goals, and Care Plans, to ensure shift tasks are met.
  • Relaying crucial updates and alerts to the Allocations Team.
  • Supporting an inclusive participant-centric culture and proactive approach.
  • Contributing to the process of documentation and continuous improvement activities.
  • Providing information to and participating in different care teams as appropriate.
  • Assisting with domestic tasks such general cleaning and laundry.

To be successful in this role you'll need:

  • Valid Right to Work in Australia
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Disability Support Worker
  • Minimum 1 year Nursing background
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Diabetes Care
  • Minimum Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, Personal Care or above
  • Prior Experience in Complex Bowel Care Management, Catheter Management, Diabetes Management and Manual Handling (Any Certification will be beneficial).
  • Experience working in SIL house.
  • Experience assisting complex clients with behavioural issues.
  • Cert IV in Mental Health (preferred)
  • Diabetes Care and Management Certificate (required)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (required)
  • First Aid Certificate HLTAID011 or HLTAID012 (required)
  • CPR Certificate HLTAID009 (required)
  • Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle (required)
  • Comprehensive car insurance (required)
  • Infection and Medication Management Training and Certification (Required).
  • Evidence of Covid vaccinations
  • Willing to complete the compliance requirements and certifications once successful
