PURPOSE:
The Assistant Accountant assists with overseeing and leading the finance team operations in providing accurate financial data, analysis, and insights to assist in the company's financial planning, decision-making, and overall business performance. This position will involve working closely with Company accountant, Financial Controller and other departments to maintain financial records, analyse performance trends and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The role encompasses all aspects of the finance department including but not limited to:
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports with accuracy and compliance to accounting standards
- Ensure timely and precise financial reporting to support effective decision-making
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
- Monitor departmental and intercompany entries to ensure correct cost allocation
- Identify and correct processing errors, recommending actions to improve cost efficiency
- Support profitability analysis by providing insights into cost structures and financial performance
- Support the implementation and maintenance of internal controls to safeguard financial integrity
- Assist in ensuring compliance with local legislation, company policies, and industry standards
- Prepare for internal and external audits, responding to inquiries and facilitating successful audit outcomes
- Lead by example to promote consistency and compliance across the network
- Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to build trusted relationships
- Demonstrate adaptability and maintain effective leadership during periods of change and uncertainty
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and management accounting practices.
- Familiarity with financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software
- Knowledge of cost accounting and budgeting methods.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to present financial data clearly and effectively.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
