TOWN PLANNER

Full Time or Part Time Position

Salary dependent on applicant's skills and experience ranging between Band 5 and Band 6 $77,725 to $101,911 pa plus statutory superannuation.
Position Objectives:
-
In this role, you will provide statutory planning advice and assess development applications in accordance with the Mildura Planning Scheme, the Subdivision Act, and the Planning and Environment Act.
-
Those who are suited to a senior planner role, will take on more complex applications and provide mentorship within the team, while early-career planners will be supported to grow their skills in a collaborative and development-focused environment.
Qualifications & Experience:
-
A degree or diploma in Town and Regional Planning or equivalent recognised qualification or two years' experience in town planning (either local government or consulting) or similar experience in a related field.

A current driver's licence.
-
Hold a current satisfactory Police Check or willing to obtain one prior to employment.
STRATEGIC PLANNER

Position Objectives:

Protect and enhance the quality and character of the natural and built environment for the benefit of current and future generations by delivering specific tasks and projects to support the preparation and implementation of land use policies and plans in accordance with the work program.
Qualifications & Experience:

A Degree or Diploma in Town Planning or related discipline or demonstrated working experience in Town Planning with a good understanding of the Victorian planning legislative framework.

Experience in the preparation of strategic planning projects including the preparation of plans and planning policies in an urban growth, regional city and/or rural planning context.
-
Experience in community consultation for land use planning projects.

Have the ability to provide a satisfactory National Police Check prior to employment.
SENIOR STRATEGIC PLANNER

Band 7 ranging from $101,930 to $114,058 pa superannuation
Position Objectives:

Protect and enhance the quality and character of the natural and built environment for the benefit of current and future generations by delivering specific tasks and projects to support the preparation and implementation of land use policies and plans in accordance with the work program. As a senior level planner within the Strategic Planning Team, support and guidance will be provided to less experienced professionals to share valuable knowledge and help foster productive relationships.
Qualifications & Experience:

A Degree or Diploma in Town Planning, or equivalent recognised qualification, with experience in a senior planning role.

Demonstrated knowledge of Strategic Planning principles and planning processes at a senior planner level.

Extensive experience in strategic land use planning, including project design, community engagement, planning scheme amendments and planning panels.

Have the ability to provide a satisfactory National Police Check prior to employment.
PRINCIPAL STATUTORY PLANNER

Position Objectives:

Lead assessment of development applications in accordance with the Mildura Planning Scheme, Planning and Environment Act, and Subdivision Act

Provide expert statutory planning advice and ensure the consistent application of legislation

Take on complex applications and support the team with guidance, review, and mentoring

Contribute to cross-functional planning projects, working collaboratively across Council
-
Representing Mildura Rural City Council at VCAT and other Council Forums
Qualifications & Experience:

A degree or diploma in Town and Regional Planning or equivalent recognised with substantial experience in a senior planning role (either local government or consulting)

A current driver's licence.

Hold a current satisfactory Police Check or willing to obtain one prior to employment.
