About the Role

As the Head of Architecture, you'll be the custodian of Bunnings' technology vision – shaping strategy, setting standards, and driving delivery of scalable, customer-focused solutions. Reporting to the General Manager of Strategy, Planning & Architecture, you'll guide a team of senior architects and analysts to translate strategy into actionable roadmaps that enable business transformation.

This is a pivotal leadership role that combines strategic influence, operational excellence, and people leadership. You'll build alignment across the business, foster innovation, and ensure technology architecture underpins Bunnings' growth and customer experience ambitions.

What You'll Do

  • Shape the vision: Define and communicate a clear, energising technology architecture strategy aligned to Bunnings' goals.

  • Lead transformation: Translate organisational priorities into architectural roadmaps, frameworks, and standards that deliver impact at scale.

  • Drive excellence: Oversee consistent, high-quality technology solutions while mitigating risk and ensuring governance.

  • Foster collaboration: Build strong cross-functional and executive relationships, representing architecture in senior forums.

  • Develop talent: Mentor and empower a high-performing team, creating a culture of autonomy, innovation, and continuous learning.

  • Innovate: Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, embedding best practices and enabling "test and learn" approaches.

About You

You are a strategic and visionary leader who thrives at the intersection of business and technology. You balance a forward-looking mindset with the discipline to execute, and you inspire others to follow a shared vision.

You bring:

  • Deep expertise in enterprise architecture and solution development, with a proven record of delivering large-scale, complex IT projects.

  • Experience in retail or consumer-facing industries, where scalability, speed, and customer experience are critical.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to guide senior architects and analysts.

  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, capable of engaging at executive and board levels.

  • Practical experience with architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman) and project management methodologies.

  • A track record of cross-functional collaboration and building long-term strategic partnerships.

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, automation, or advanced analytics.

  • Exposure to enterprise planning, investment frameworks, or large-scale digital transformation.

Why Bunnings?

At Bunnings, you'll lead technology at a scale few organisations can match – delivering solutions that impact millions of customers and thousands of team members. You'll be part of a values-led organisation that:

  • Empowers leaders to shape strategy and outcomes.

  • Encourages innovation, continuous improvement, and experimentation.

  • Invests in professional growth and career development.

  • Offers a collaborative, down-to-earth culture with real impact.

You'll be part of a workplace where you'll feel like you belong.

Bunnings strives to ensure everyone is treated fairly and our team are committed to supporting you at any stage of your recruitment journey. Be sure to let us know if you require an adjustment and we can provide the most appropriate support for you. If you have the experience, skills and a passion to grow but don't necessarily nail every single point in the job description, please still apply. Contact us at and a member of the team will be in touch.
