About the role

You will be joining this 150 rooms hotel located in the heart of Sydney CBD. Working alongside Guest Service Supervisor and assisting them in maintaining the hotel to a high-quality standard.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Hotel Manager to oversee the daily operations of our property. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring excellent guest service, efficient operational management, and effective leadership of hotel staff. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to quality, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic hospitality environment.

Please note with written or verbal advisement; that we may place you in one of our other hotels in the portfolio due to internal staffing rearrangements.

Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Supervisor/Manager Functions

  • Take full responsibility for hotel operations in the absence of senior management.
  • Lead by example to uphold a high level of service and professionalism across all areas.
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure operational harmony and seamless guest experience.
  • Actively contribute to business KPIs and aim to exceed performance targets.
  • Take opportunities to upsell hotel services and packages.

Operations & Compliance

  • Maintain compliance with OH&S and company policies across all staff.
  • Approve allowances, rebates, and other financial adjustments as required in consultation with the onsite Financial Controller.
  • Manage and monitor credit policies, lost and found procedures, and guest property records.
  • Follow up on credit checks, revenue monitoring, and liaise with Finance on cash flow matters.
  • Manage stock levels for front desk stationery and minibar inventory.

Front Office Oversight

  • Delegate tasks to front office staff and ensure team effectiveness during each shift.
  • Be fully conversant with all hotel emergency and safety procedures.
  • Inspect public areas, lobbies, and ensure staff presentation and cleanliness standards are met.
  • Review guest registrations and ensure complete and accurate records.
  • Instruct reception regarding walk-ins, cancellations, and room availability.
  • Oversee group reservations, rate policies, and ensure pre-arrival coordination is completed.
  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance, ensuring alignment with operational standards.

Skills and experience

The successful candidate should possess the following:

  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Have a passion for hospitality and learning.
  • Excellent grooming and presentation skills
  • The ability to work autonomously and juggle competing tasks under pressure.
  • Previous experience in a senior/supervisory role, in a hotel Front Office capacity.
  • Unlimited working rights and flexibility to work 38 hours a week, including a rotating roster that consists of the early, late, weekend and public holiday shifts.
  • Twelve months of industry experience and tertiary degree/qualification in hospitality.
  • Relevant Hospitality software skills and general computer literacy are advantageous.
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate & RSA (Desirable but not essential)

Pay: $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
