Senior Business Analyst – Contract Role

Location:
Canberra or Brisbane (Hybrid – 2–3 days onsite per week)

About the Role

We are seeking a
Senior Business Analyst
to lead the discovery, analysis, and documentation of business requirements for the implementation of a Program and Project Management and Reporting Tool (PPMRT). This role involves working closely with stakeholders across various business units to ensure the solution aligns with operational needs and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and analysis of current project management processes and reporting frameworks.
  • Engage with stakeholders to gather and validate functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Document current and future state workflows to inform system design and change planning.
  • Develop business requirements documentation and contribute to project management planning.
  • Facilitate communication between technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Lead and participate in stakeholder workshops and sessions.
  • Assess initiative-level reporting needs and evaluate integration feasibility.
  • Review existing systems and provide recommendations for initiative tracking.
  • Produce artefacts including discovery reports, comparative reviews, and recommendation reports.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong background in business analysis, process mapping, and product-based development.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and facilitation.
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability in problem-solving and solution-based thinking.
  • Familiarity with APIs and system integrations.
  • Ability to develop user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience with business modelling, feasibility assessments, and requirements management (SFIA Level 4–5).

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with MS Project, Power BI, DevOps, or similar project tracking tools.
  • Knowledge of stakeholder relationship management and change management practices.
  • Exposure to government or enterprise-level reporting systems.
