Western Sydney Wanderers FC are seeking a General Manager Football Operations to help drive high performance standards on and off the field while building lasting success for the Wanderers Club.
About the role
The General Manager Football Operations is responsible for providing administrative management and operational services to the A-League Men's, A-League Women's, and Academy teams. The role ensures professional delivery of football operations, supports the coaching staff in planning and recruitment, and provides integration between football and other areas of the business to achieve the best outcomes for the Club.
What you'll be doing
- Provide operational and administrative management across A-League Men's, A-League Women's and Academy programs.
- Liaise with coaches, players, and team staff to ensure effective delivery of training, matches, and player schedules.
- Assist with planning, recruitment, and contracting of playing and coaching personnel.
- Manage logistics including player relocations, transfers, travel, and match-day operations.
- Ensure accurate management of the Total Player Payments register across A-League Men's and Women's.
- Maintain compliance with APL, FA, AFC, FIFA, and ASADA regulations.
- Manage budget requirements across Men's, Women's and Academy programs.
- Liaise with player agents and intermediaries in the recruitment and contracting process.
- Coordinate and report on regular meetings with A-League Men's and Academy staff to ensure a clear player development pathway.
- Provide leadership and communication to all players and staff, including player welfare and care programs.
- Support commercial and community departments to meet operational needs.
- Ensure compliance with apparel sponsorship requirements and reporting.
- Report on football matters at Club Board meetings.
- Attend all A-League Men's matches and training sessions, and A-League Women's home matches.
What we're looking for
- Proven experience in Football Operations or elite sport administration.
- Strong knowledge of A-League rules, compliance frameworks, and player contract processes.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a high-performance environment.
- Experience in stakeholder management, including agents and regulatory bodies.
- Sound financial management skills with experience in budgeting and reporting.
