About The Partnership Initiative
This role supports the Department of Education's Equity and Excellence Strategy through the Partnership Initiative, a project piloting the delivery of tailored and differentiated support to 42 regional, rural, and remote Queensland schools. The initiative aims to enable participating schools to collaborate with community partners and government agencies to deliver locally responsive and integrated strategies. The initiative is grounded in a place-based approach, drawing from evidence that outcomes for children, students, families, and communities improve when services and supports are integrated across government, industry, and local communities. It also supports the involvement of First Nations communities in decision-making to enhance learning and life outcomes for young Indigenous Australians.
About Northern Peninsular Area State College
Northern Peninsular Area State College is situated on the tip of Cape York Peninsula. The College (NPASC) is a K-12 College with 3 campuses. Ama Mary Eseli Injinoo and Bamaga Primary Campuses have Kindy to Year 6, while Year secondary student needs are met by the Senior Campus in Bamaga. All campuses are managed by a Head of Campus, with the College Principal overseeing strategic direction.
About The Northern Peninsula Area Communities
The NPA communities are made up of people who identify strongly with Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and non-Indigenous cultures. Many local families have origins in Saibai Island, Badu Island, and other islands in the Torres Strait. The people of Injinoo are descendants of the original Aboriginal inhabitants of the area, while other Aboriginal communities maintain strong connections to Old Mapoon near Weipa and Lockhart River. A regular flow of family members visiting from across the Torres Strait and mainland centres such as Townsville, Cairns, and Weipa contributes to a rich diversity of cultural practices, experiences, and expectations.
