Catholic Homes is seeking an experienced and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our Catholic Homes Allied Health team on a part-time basis working 2 days per week. This role is based at Ocean Star in Bunbury.

A smaller residence, Ocean Star is welcoming and compassionate aged care home located near the tranquil shores of the Indian Ocean. Rooted in the values of dignity, respect, and community, Ocean Star provides a warm, supportive environment where residents receive high-quality, person-centred care tailored to their individual needs.

Reporting to the Allied Health Manager you will be responsible for development, implementation and evaluation of community based occupational support and programs for Clients and/or supporting residents within residential care.

Key responsibilities

  • Complete assessments, care planning, reviews and evaluation requirements for Residents in the facility.
  • Design activities and programs in line with the Residents preferences and choice.
  • Oversee implementation of activities/support needs for Residents and regularly monitor and evaluate their wellbeing.
  • Provide appropriate supervision, direction and support to Wellness Team.
  • Support staff to undertake activities and purchasing of aids and equipment to meet Residents needs including mentorship and training.
  • Providing support to Residents for assistive technology.
  • Providing professional support to assist with problem solving specific to Residents challenges and address any concerns in quality outcomes particularly behaviour and cognitive management plans.
  • Supports the where required to participate in multidisciplinary Residents Care planning meetings/case conferences.
  • Liaises with external agencies and contractors as appropriate to support Residents.

To be successful in this role you will have/be

  • A Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy)
  • Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • 12-months experience working in Aged Care
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Positive attitude to change management and new initiatives
  • A genuine interest in improving the quality of life for our residents.
