respond to emergencies, manage the marine safety radio network, and help educate boaters to stay safe.

Shape the Future of Marine Safety – One Zone at a Time

We're building a talent pool of passionate leaders ready to take command across NSW. While our
immediate opening is in Greater Sydney
, this campaign will identify top candidates for future vacancies in six regional zones.

As a Zone Duty Operations Manager, you'll be the frontline operational lead — coordinating incident response, supporting volunteers, and ensuring readiness across your assigned zone. You'll work remotely, supported by a work vehicle and a close-knit HQ team, with the flexibility to manage your zone from the field.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading incident responses and coordinating with emergency services
  • Supporting volunteer capability, safety, and training efforts
  • Overseeing operational readiness across vessels, systems, and people
  • Representing Marine Rescue in the community and media when needed
  • Helping shape best-practice safety culture, preparedness, and response

Step Up to the Call: The Leader We Need

We're looking for calm, capable leaders who thrive in dynamic environments and care deeply about people and public safety.

To be successful, you'll bring:

  • Leadership experience in emergency response or operations (min. 3 years)
  • A collaborative style and strong communication skills
  • Confidence working with volunteers, communities, and partner agencies
  • A valid driver's licence and full Australian working rights

Bonus points for experience in:

  • Marine operations or maritime safety
  • Volunteer engagement or training delivery
  • Incident reporting, risk oversight, or radio network operations

This role suits someone who can lead in high-pressure moments, build trust quickly, and find practical solutions in complex environments.
