Purpose

Own the daily operations of the business. Keep teams running smooth, jobs on track, and problems off the director's plate. Big on communication, systems, and keeping people fired.

This role can be completely done from a phone and laptop and will suit someone looking for a more balanced life. We are an attic installation company currently in Perth and Sydney and looking to scale. We are after someone who has solid industry experience and is looking for a change of pace.


Core Deliverables
  • Jobs kick off without delays or confusion
  • Customers stay in the loop (and off your back)
  • Team leaders feel supported, not micromanaged
  • Issues handled fast — no bottlenecks
  • Ops systems are followed (and improved over time)

Performance Matrix / KPIs
  • Response time to onsite issues (avg hours)
  • Customer call-backs/complaints per week
  • Team engagement score (monthly pulse check)
  • Systems compliance rate (% usage of ops tools)

Expectations
  • Always available (within reason) for team leaders during work hours
  • Leads with calm under pressure
  • Uses systems — doesn't just "wing it"
  • Knows how to speak tradie and customer
  • Keeps the director out of the day-to-day
  • Acts like an owner, not just a manager

Core Responsibilities

Daily

  • Check in with team leaders each morning
  • Solve any site delays, miscommunication, or supplier issues
  • Contact customers if jobs are running late or need input
  • Update internal systems (scheduling, job notes, issues tracker)
  • Motivate and support the crew — eyes open for problems early

Weekly

  • Run short ops check-in with team leaders
  • Review any ongoing issues or risks with the director
  • Report on job progress, team morale, and customer feedback
  • Suggest system/process tweaks that'll save time or stress

Monthly

  • Performance reviews with team leaders (lightweight, not corporate)
  • Update ops playbook or SOPs based on real-life lessons
  • Support hiring/onboarding if new staff come in
