  • $90,308 per annum + 12% superannuation

  • La Trobe Street, Melbourne based role (hybrid - 3 days a week in office)

About the opportunity

The Legal Team are responsible for providing legal and specialist advice on personal injury and public law issues as related to Medical Panels. Reporting to the Legal Manager, this role provides high level paralegal support to the Legal Manager, the Legal Team, as well as a range of key internal stakeholders including the Convenor, Deputy Convenors and Panel Members

The role provides support to the Legal Manager and Convenor through administrative oversight and preparation of communications and documents for key stakeholders. It also provides support to the Legal Team and Panel Members by communicating with key stakeholders to facilitate the timely provision of key documents within statutory timeframes. This includes (but is not limited to) the process of seeking from interested parties: clarification of matters of fact, additional medical or legal information, submissions requested by Panel, and requests for an extension of time on behalf of the Panel.

There is an element of general administration including scheduling meetings, providing assistance with presentation preparation, preparing correspondence and management of general email enquiries.

About you

You will demonstrate an ability to work in a team within a sensitive medico-legal environment subject to close public scrutiny. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and have a proven ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. You will bring to the role an eye for detail and excellent prioritisation skills. A tertiary qualification in Law or a Graduate diploma in Legal Studies or working towards either of these will be highly regarded as will an understanding of Medical Panels as a tribunal. Previous work and an understanding of Workcover and/or Wrongs Act legislation will also be highly regarded.
