Production & Packing Assistant

30–35 hrs/week

(Weekdays + Saturday Market)

About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on Production & Packing Assistant to join our certified-organic food manufacturing business. You'll start on a 3-month probationary contract, with the opportunity to move into a permanent role for the right candidate.

This role is based at our Hornsby warehouse on weekdays and includes Saturdays at Carriageworks Farmers Market (7:00 am start), where you'll help with stall setup, sales, and preparing fresh chai & matcha.

Minimum commitment is 30–35 hours per week across weekdays and Saturday. This role is not suitable for those seeking weekend-only work or requiring work visa.

What you'll do

  • Assist with food production (weighing, blending, roasting, grinding, packing) and sometimes fresh dishes using our spices for sampling at events.
  • Operate small-scale production equipments safely and efficiently.
  • Pack, seal, and label finished products.
  • Support stall setup, sales, and chai/matcha prep at Carriageworks.
  • General warehouse duties including stock movement and cleaning.
  • Follow production schedule, safe manual handling, food safety, health and hygiene procedures.
  • Clean, wash and sanitise production area

What we're looking for

  • Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
  • Physically fit – able to lift 15–20kg and stand for extended periods.
  • Attention to details and Willingness to learn and follow procedures carefully.
  • Available weekdays and Saturdays (30–35 hrs total).
  • Interest in food, markets, or organics.
  • Your current ABN
  • Basic food handling certificate or willingness to obtain prior to start.

Desirable: Prior experience in food production/packing/warehouse/hospitality.

Pay & Conditions

  • Contract probation (first 3 months): $24-–$28/hr based on skills
  • Permanent (after probation): in line with the Food, Beverage & Tobacco Manufacturing Award (MA
  • Junior award rates apply for candidates under 21.
