About This Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Speech Pathologist to join the dedicated and supportive Clinical Education team within our world-leading School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences as a Clinical Education Liaison Manager. This position is tailor-made for an experienced clinician seeking to apply their clinical expertise to contribute to educating the next generation of healthcare professionals.

In this role, you will manage, coordinate, report, and liaise on matters pertaining to the provision of quality clinical practice experiences for students enrolled in our Bachelor and Master of Speech Pathology programs. The role will develop, support, and deliver education and training to practice educators as well as enhancing quality clinical education activities and opportunities for our students.

This is a part-time (40% FTE) continuing role. If desired, further opportunities to participate in additional casual academic work around this existing role would also be considered.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide support and advice for students in the clinical education context as informed by professional, ethical, legal, and organisational standards.
  • Manage the allocation of practice placements ensuring balanced student experiences reflective of Speech Pathology Australia accreditation requirements.
  • Lead the administrative processes associated with clinical placement activity including allocation and timetabling of students to placements, assessment, results and placement management data and other relevant activity conducted through the Clinical Education Unit.
  • Liaise and negotiate with stakeholders within a range of sectors including public, private, education, industry, and NGOs on matters relevant to clinical education including development and evaluation of new and existing placement opportunities.
  • Develop, provide and evaluate education and training strategies and resources for practice educators on facilitation of learning and assessment of student clinical practice in line with the School's directions.
  • Provide on-site and remote support for the development of practice educators engaged in the supervision of speech pathology students.
About You
  • A degree in Speech Pathology with a minimum of 5 years relevant clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the clinical education of students.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, including collaboration, negotiation and conflict management with the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders through networking and engagement.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills that are representative of high-level stakeholder engagement including presenting at a range of forums.
  • Self-motivation, ability to assume responsibility, problem-solve and take initiative to enhance operational and strategic outcomes.
  • Demonstrated high level organisational and time management skills including the ability to manage a range of competing priorities to successful conclusion.
  • It would be advantageous to have experience in delivering workshops, tutoring, group facilitation or classroom teaching.

Mandatory requirements: Applicants must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply (employer-sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment). The successful candidate will be required to complete mandatory immunisations and a criminal history check, as well as currently hold or be eligible for practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia, and hold or be eligible to obtain a Blue Card, First Aid/CPR certification and a valid driver's licence.
