We are seeking a Principal HR Data Engineer to join our HR Business Intelligence team on a temporary basis in Brisbane City. Our team is committed, passionate, and energetic, and we are looking for someone who shares that drive to deliver impactful HR data solutions.

What you'll do

In the demanding HR landscape, the HR Business Intelligence team is responsible for maintaining and reporting on various Department of Health's HR Data and Reporting solutions. In order to achieve this we are looking for a high performing Principal HR Data Engineer who will:

  • Leverage Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks as well as existing platforms for data processing and analytics. This includes designing and implementing scalable data pipelines and architectures.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring they understand the implications and benefits of data solutions.
  • Work collaboratively within a dynamic reporting unit to handle urgent data requests efficiently. This involves effective communication and coordination with team members of all levels to meet tight deadlines.
  • Develop and maintain robust data models and pipelines, ensuring they are optimized for performance and scalability. This includes both creating new data solutions and maintaining existing ones.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, respect, and collaboration within the team. Encourage innovative approaches to data management and reporting to continuously improve processes and outcomes.
  • Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

About you

We are searching for someone with:

  • Excellent knowledge of SQL and data modelling, with a strong understanding of industry best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with Azure cloud platform (Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory), and Oracle. A general understanding of human resources functions and DSS (Decision Support System) experience would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide advice and guidance to support the adoption of, and adherence to, defined policies and standards. And have customised a process in line with agreed standards and/or reviewed and improved their usage and application. (SFIA: METL Level 5).
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate as part of formal or informal discussions and understands requirements by collecting data and delivering analysis, ensuring the proposed initiate is properly understood and utilised appropriately. (SFIA: CNSL Level 4).
  • Proven ability to monitor service delivery against service level agreements and analyse service delivery performance to identify actions required to maintain or improve levels of service. (SFIA: SLMO Level 4).
  • Proven ability to advise and assist learners to enable the delivery of learning objectives and has tailored an approach to learning delivery to enhance the experience of learners. While observing and evaluating learners performing practical activities and work. (SFIA: ETDL Level 4).
